The Montreal AI Symposium aims at gathering experts and professionals interested in fundamental advances and applications of artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on machine learning, deep learning and related approaches. The Symposium welcomes both academic and industrial participants; it seeks to build strong connections between researchers within the Greater Montreal area. We will feature a day-long event, filled with keynote addresses, contributed talks and posters, and time for networking and socializing.

Where: both online and in-person (limited capacity). The in-person event will take place at Mila in the Agora Cafe. (see below for details about the in-person and the online event)

Please register for the event here (Eventbrite) for both the in-person and the online. We will notify those a week before the event who wanted to attend in-person if there is room availability. Everyone should register with the same link regardless of whether you want to attend in-person or online. You must indicate in the Eventbrite form if you want to attend in-person otherwise we will assume you want to attend online. One week before the event, we will inform you if we have space.
In-person: The in-person event will take place at the Mila-Quebec AI Institute in the Agora. We are limited to 100 person capacity. Due to health guidelines, you must wear a mask and show a Quebec vaccine passport to attend the in-person events. We will be unable to provide any food/drink; however, there is a long break for lunch. We hope that most of the speakers will give live talks at the in-person event. Those not giving in-person talks will be live streamed to the in-person audience. Note that all the sponsors and poster session booths will only be available on gather.town (no live booths).
Online: All the talks will be live streamed via Zoom. Poster sessions and sponsor booths will be in gather.town. An email with the links to the Zoom and gather.town will be sent out a week before the conference.
Call for Contrtibutions
We invite you to submit a contribution to the fourth Montreal AI symposium. In order to promote research conducted in and around Montreal, at least one of the authors must be affiliated with an institution based in the province of Quebec.
We encourage submission of abstracts from both academic and industrial researchers, which can describe a technical or practical contribution, an open problem, an application or a position statement. Previously published material is acceptable. Do not include any confidential material. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: - Fundamental research in deep learning, reinforcement learning, kernel machines, Bayesian modeling, ensemble methods, optimization for machine learning; - Implementation issues, parallelization, software platforms, hardware; - Applications, including vision, audio, speech, natural language processing, robotics, healthcare, bioinformatics. A virtual poster session will be held on GatherTown the day of the event, where a representative per poster can present their work to participants.
Collaborative review
For each abstract submitted, the principal contact associated with the submission is asked to evaluate three contributions. This collaborative evaluation process is designed to accommodate the growing size of the AI community.
